Niko, I took your advice on this front and decided to buy some nice dremel bits for the dremel I found in the garage. Didn't know I had one! Now I must go out and buy the cloth polishing bit. I purchased some sanding bits for it, and this is what I got out of it. I went a little overboard with the sanding, and the little "ridges" the slide had are now gone. It's also much shinier than before but it isn't uniform. Here are some photos of it as it is now. Feedback?
