Hello fellow KWA'ers!  

I am a new airsofter at 36 yrs old and I am completely addicted!

I have a KM4A1 and I also understand that KWA has a few proprietary parts.....

What are the proprietary parts?

I want to know that way I can always have a spare or three on hand!

From my personal experience the gearbox is of course proprietary ( meaning you cant drop the 2gx into a classic army/g&g body and other brands), the hopup is proprietary, and finally the air nozzle is proprietary from what ive heard. I have heard parts of the piston MAY be proprietary but i do not want to give you any false information. Moderators may also have the other information you seek as well as tell me wrong if i am hop i could help any!

KWA proprietary parts: (Mainly compression parts)

1. Hop-up unit
2. Air nozzle
3. Cylinder nozzle
4. Gear box shell.
5. BB ramp (Maybe - not 100% sure on this part)

This is not to say that TM compatible parts or other brand parts cannot be used in place of parts 1-5.
They can and will work, a lot of them.
Working and performing are not one in the same.
I can say that I have tried many after market brand parts relating to parts 1-5 and none of the after market compression parts performed as well as KWA stock compression parts.

If there is any advice you listen to relating to KWA guns from KWA owners, hear these three things:

1. Only use KWA brand compression parts, not aftermarket brands.
If you want to do some DIY mods to some of these parts, such as adding your own sorbo pad to the cylinder head, then that is fine.
Just use the KWA part - in this case the KWA cylinder head -  as the base for your mod.

2.Li-po battery:
Stay within KWA specs regarding Li-po batteries.
Do not use monster Li-po bartteries.

3. Learn to take apart your hop-up chamber.
This will allow you to clean the hop-up unit, inner barrel, and bucking thoroughly.
This will also allow you to change these parts out if and when they need it or you just want to.
