Well, there is at least one 10.8v NiMH nunchuck battery pack that WILL FIT the collapsible stock of the KWA SR10, SR7, and M4 RIS. I just got the battery in the mail today. This is a great battery if you're looking for high voltage and a high ROF, but don't want to go the LiPo route.

As a side note, if you order this battery, don't bother paying the $25 for express shipping (like I did). It only shortens the shipping by 1 day. -__-

I bet the ROF isn't as high as some 11.1v, which I think is perfect. I have a buddy that was talking back then about using a 10.8v in his KWA since it's a high ROF but doesn't burn through his magazines like an 11.1v lipo does.

Yeah, it won't have as high a ROF as an 11.1v LiPO, but it's the best battery if you don't want to go the LiPO route for numerous reasons. And frankly, even though KWA says their gun's are "LiPO ready", so many people have stripped their KWAs using a LiPO that I think using a slightly lower voltage battery is better for your gun. But that's just me. ;)

Edit: Wait; are you saying a 11.1 ROF is good or bad? I'm confused. =P

Well many people stripping their KWA often time involved another variable than just using a Lipo.

Out of Spec Lipo. Poor maintenance. Poor Quality BB's, Improper or incompatible aftermarket modifications are far more of a culprit than a lipo. Often, I've seen the first 3 combined that caused their KWA to have gearbox failures. It's nothing new especially to the KWA CS and Repair Shop. They see plenty of instances of busted bearings, stripped gears, pistons or/and fried electrical assembly because of those first 3, not simply because someone used a lipo.

It's easy to blame the gearbox rather than a user's mistake, because most people cannot determine (or are willing to admit their fault) the cause immediately. If X then Y is generally people's logic. If a gear is faulty, the gearbox will fail. But, if user error occurs, the gearbox will fail.

The problem is a gearbox and its parts will fail from either a faulty part, or the user making a mistake with how to maintain and use the gun. It's very difficult to actually determine apart from the two, and far too easy to blame KWA's design.

For example, figuring out why a bearing is busted is easier for one to conclude that KWA cannot take lipo ready, rather than realize that the BB's advertised to them as "high quality," actually causes deep scratches in their barrel which leads to a jam or difference in pressure that slows the piston down enough for the gears to not mesh properly, thus causing the rest of the stress to go into the bearings.   

As for the 11.1v ROF being good or bad? It's not bad at all in terms of the gearbox gears spinning faster. I'm saying that, with MilSim requirements, the 11.1v ROF burns through Mid-Caps too fast for my playing style as well as a few others.

I use lipos but as you stated they blow through mags way to fast if I hold the trigger linger than a three round burst.  
I don't know that yhebest trade off is.
I like the crispness of the lipo but the rof of a 9.6.  But a 9.6 will not give the crisp pop with a heavy spring.  Meaning a sp120. Any thoughts.

How about a 9.6 and a MOSFET?  That would get you the trigger response I bet.

I like my Lipo.  Once you go past 11.1v I think it gets a little bit out of hand though.  After palying some games with my sr10 I'm thinking an increase in fps and a small rof drop would suit me perfectly.

Will a madbull m120 give me around 450-460fps in my sr10?  I think I heard that somewhere here.

I've been using that same exact battery in my SR10 from elite for about 4months now.  Works great, charges up into the low 13v range while the 11.1v lipo of course charges to 12.6v.  Both work great with this gun.

Batteries aren't rated on their fully charged capacity.
NiMH batteries are usually rated on 1.2v per cell. When fully charged, they are about 1.4-1.5v.  For exmaple, I have a 8 cell 9.6v 1600mah battery.  When fully charged, it is 11.6v.
Lipo batteries are rated at 3.7v per cell.  When fully charged, they hold a 4.2v charge.  For example, my Lipo is a 3 cell 11.1v 1800mah battery.  When full charged, it reaches 12.6v.

I am on my way to work and can't get into detail but.....the 1.2v per cell is the rating of the cell.  Each cell will fall below 1.2v when discharged and up to around 1.5v when fully charged.  I am a heavy lipo user and have about 29 lipos ranging from a 7.2v 1300mah to a 22.2v 8000mah.  I have been using lipos for about 6 years now in my large RC aircraft.  

Lipos are rated at 3.7v per cell but are charged up to 4.2v per cell, bringing a 11.1v lipo up to 12.6v when fully charged.  I also never discharge them passed 3.6v per cell, or 10.8v in my aircraft.  

It sounds as if you do not have a smart charger.  While it is not needed it would be a good idea.  You would then see the volts and mah in and out of your batts and help you track the health of your batteries.  I have a charging board with 5 chargers.  2 Cellpro XPs, 1 Cellpro S, 1 old Triton(first smart charger) and two different hyperion chargers.

Google nimh and lipo battery care.  There is a lot of info out there.  If you choose to use lipos I need to add that they are much more volatile and need to be handled differently than nimh or nicd.

I actually do have a smart charger, but it doesn't have a digital screen. But I still don't understand something; if a LiPO can be charged up to 12.6v, and a 10.8v NiMH can be charged at up to 13v, then why does the LiPO still have the higher ROF?

The LIPO batteries have a different battery chemistry. The cells in a lipo discharge more while losing less MAH per shot. So a 11.1v 1600 mah Lipo will outlast a 10.8v 1800-2000 mah. The last MAH are just a guestimate correct me if i am wrong?

To be honest, I was wondering the same thing.  My 10.8 nimh has a higher rof with a fresh charge.  Something else to consider is lipos have a flater discharge rate then drop more quickly at the end.  So over the life of a charge the lipo does maintain a high rof for a longer period of time.  

Be careful not to over discharge lipos.  I have a ASCU mosfet which protects lipos from over discharging, that said I still use an audible low voltage device when using 3 cell 11.1v lipos in my gun.

A freshly charged 10.8v WILL have a higher rof than a 11.1v lipo.  However it will not for long because as nimh batteries drain they put out a lower and lower power.  Lipos put out a constant power supply until they reach 3.0v.  At which point you better unplug it. sorry im writing this on the go

Personally, I never let any of my high priced lipos go below 3.6v/cell and as a rule, the newer 30-50C lipos should never go below 3.3v/cell.  I am pretty conservative with my large RC lipos.  Many are over $200 and I dont wanna puff them.
