So, for those of you who have the gun, and those of us who are about to get it, what are your initial thoughts? How does it compare to other weapons you've used?

And as another question, will a TBB have the same general affect as it would on an any other gun, or are GBBRs a different world?

Haven't had a place to test range yet but just plinking it at about 20 ft inside on a M16 zeroing target shows a pretty awesome groupings with about an inch spacing between three placed shots each. The thing i'm loving is the trigger reset and the fact that you actually have to shoulder it when firing.. It is friggin outstanding to say the least. I'm honestly debating if my System will be going up for sale and ill be transitioning entirely to two LM4 setups....

A TBB would greatly increase the FPS and accuracy in a GBBR than a regular AEG. First off, the tighter bore will allow less gas to escape from behind the bb, giving more gas to expand behind and power the bb forward. Then, the longer the barrel, the longer the gas gets to build up while the bb is in mid flight down the barrel, giving a more powerful shot. So getting a TBB would be a significant upgrade to your LM4.

Uhm... Air is gas as well.  It works the same way. (As in AEG's)

Not exactly. The high pressure gas will continue to expand even in the barrel creating more force the longer the bb is in the barrel. More like a real gun than an AEG.

I understand that, but it's the same principal with AEG's.  Longer barrel = higher fps.

Not necessarily true. Usually when a person increases the length of the inner barrel, they also normally choose a smaller diameter bore, which can create the false belief of FPS gain by adding a longer barrel. A true test you can run to confirm this would be a side by side comparison where the only variable is simply a longer barrel (they would need to be the same exact bore diameter).

A tbb in an AEG will boost its performance (fps/accuracy), but not even half as great as it would in a GBB. The boost in a GBB is significant, while the boost in an AEG would be minimal- albeit there may still be a small boost.

So, with the addition of a TBB, a DMR LM4 is quite possible. My only personal concern is needing it to be a semi-auto only weapon due to field regulations here. Hopefully someone can figure out a way to make this modification, but be able to use full-auto in the future as well.

Extend a AEG barrel to twice its length with a tighter bore, the fps doesn't increase more than 30-40 fps max.... Put a M4 length tbb on a stock KMP9... your fps goes well past 500 fps... That is because air used to propel the BB is not compressed like Green Gas is. Green gas is pressurized so that it is stored a mixture of liquid and gas in your magazine. Once it is exposed to atmospheric pressure, it vaporizes (boils), and expands behind the bb increasing the velocity much more.

Frankly, the accuracy should be pretty darn good on the LM4 since it uses a new hop up design....

Thanks for the report GW. Can you tell us how you got that inner barrel assembly out?

Is it theoretically possible that KWA could develop both a TBB/extended barrel and a stronger bolt? In this way, you could get higher FPS and/or accuracy, and get more recoil? Or would that be too much work ?

Well, there are stronger bolts that KWA has made for the LM4, but they aren't exactly for the consumer markets. If you want more FPS and or more recoil, there are other 3rd party options that you can take into consideration. These options are, upgraded recoil buffer (for more recoil) (note that this can/may cause more damage to your internals), RA-tech parts such as their steel bolt, and inner barrels made for the KSC GBBRs. Some RA-tech parts such as their NPAS for the LM4 have been known to not work well with the American version, so I would look into that kind of stuff before buying anything. I for one plan to pick up one of those recoil buffers.
