I'm afraid to use silicon on my ram rod because I've heard silicon can really screw up the hop up, i have yet to take it apart, but if I do will I have to remove the hop up and just lube the barrel?

Thanks for the help!

Removing the hop up bucking is very easy once you've taken it all apart (which is also very easy) if you want to be extra safe when cleaning.

I would simply clean the barrel while installed in the gun with a dry patch.  That's what I've done for several years now with my MP7 with great results.

Ah thank you all, looks as though I'll just be using dry patches.  Thanks again!
