This makes me wonder why KWA went with a split upper design and not a standard upper receiver. I know it was thing less for BAFTE to b*tch about, but why? Hopefully these issues get remedied before the LM4 PTS and LM4C get shipped out... That and the issues about the nozzle slipping out of place in the bolt, jamming, hop-up issues.

Taking the BATF out of the equation, I believe one piece uppers like the ones found on AR's are CNC'ed; an extremely expensive and a time consuming process. As a result, the guns would trickle slowly into the market, and the gun would probably cost 2-3 times more (effectively pricing itself out of the market). A split two piece upper allows for mold injecting, a cheaper and quicker process. With that said, going with a split upper & looking at the parts diagram, IMO I think there are better options to secure the top rail without the use of part 89 and keeping the charging handle rail unobstructed.

Just wanted to let you guys in on an update to the LM4 I recently sent in to KWA. First off, I once again give KWA's customer service the highest regards, as they have really taken care of me. I sent my rifle in and after 7 days, they received it, and inspected the gun immediately. I talked with Allizard over chat the other night and said the results of the inspections found "a piece of metal clip on the upper receiver rail that's designed to hold the upper rail on the body has fallen off"

This part, part 89, was stuck in the receiver where the charging handle was supposed to rest. Therefore, I was told, the bolt would not rest in the normal position. Because of this, it could also be the reason why bbs would not feed into the chamber properly, resulting in jams and crushed bbs. Allen noted that my rifle was the only one sent back to the warehouse with this problem.

With the help of Victornica, xKingSizex and Customer Service Agent Rudy, I was sent an email just yesterday about a replacement gun being shipped and is on the way to my address.

Thank you very much for your quick service resolving the issue and I eagerly await next weekend when I will be able to put some good trigger time into my rifle.
Nice post Luke.  Hope to see you at Cookies before long!

To add to this, I was fiddling around with my LM4 trying stuff out and I found that when applying upward pressure on the magazine and shooting the bolt will lock back with one bb left in the magazine. When I split the receiver and put the mag in there's a few millimeters of play in the vertical direction.  The magazine should naturally rest as low as possible.  I'm not sure if it's because of wear and tear but it's something too take a look at.
Also, it seems as though the full auto issue is starting to crop up where the bb's start rolling out of the barrel and the magazine spews the rest of its contents through every possible place inside the receiver.  This recently caused me to die in a match.  It was extremely frustrating.  I've got some ideas as to why it might be happening but I can't be sure.  However after I cleaned the gun and lubed it very heavily I found it can shoot 10-20 rounds before returning to rolling bb's.  I'm pretty sure it has to do with the O-Ring around the back of the nozzle thing inside the bolt carrier.  I'm hypothesizing that it's freezing up and shrinking or becoming harder thus causing loss of compression.

Second day of Fielding it, I have been lubing all orings and everything and Im pretty sure one has already blown in the mag that comes with. Aside from that, no other issues have occurred so far. Which is good and usually not likely for me to say, usually, I have to build a gun around my playing style as for I usually run the dog $#&% out of it. I abusive a majority of my weapons, but, I treat them as they are treated in real combat situations. So, that being said, this guns been very solid for me, thus far.

One question. Are the amount of issues with this gun normal for it's type, on release? Do the gas SMGs have threads like these addressing issues in the beginning? Also, I haven't read the whole thread, but I'm guessing most guns are fine, but then some guns are experiencing somewhat major issues, like the hop up teeth stripping, etc, and then others are experiencing minor issues, like the magazines leaking etc. I don't mean to come from left field, but I'm curious anyway...

Remember that these Forums are designed to help those who encounter issues with their guns.  True, many other topics are covered here but if someone has a problem with a KWA gun, this is where they will come for the answer. And because of this it is not unusual to see a proportionally higher number of questions regarding repairs, operational/functional glitches, etc.   This is typically true of new models as they have yet to have broad consumer experience.

That vast majority of KWA's, any model, have few if any issues.  Unfortunately, there aren't any threads dedicated to "Why I have no issues with my KWA".  Though, I may start one!

One thing is certain, as issues arise they are reported, addressed, and improved upon.  Especially if this is due to a design problem verses not. And if you encounter such an issue, KWA will warranty repair your gun so long as you are within the warranty parameters.

"Why I have no issues with my [Airsoft Guns]." There's nothing to break when they are all broken. :rofl1:

So far I have had no issues with my LM4. I have not done the bolt mods that Dobey recommended, yet either. I'll see how far long I come along as well, perhaps be able to join in with your thread of "Why I have no issues with my KWA."

Giving you guys another update to my current LM4 progress...

Received my replacement LM4 on Wednesday. Kudos to KWA for shipping one out so quickly! I was able to put a quick 200 rounds down range right now, and have not experienced any problems yet. Although the nozzle has been sticking out a little bit after finishing a mag again, it hasn't caused an issue as of yet. I am hesitant to do dobey's bolt filing mod right now. I'm still under warranty and do not wish to screw up my gun (I'm not the best with mods...) at this particular moment. The sticky nozzle hasn't bothered me, but I do feel it is something to keep an eye on (and perhaps be addressed) when making future generations of the gun. As I make my way to the 3k rounds down range mark, I will give another update, and hopefully a proper "first impressions" opinion as I am still very much impressed with the gun even after I've said some bad things about it.

I went to the field yesterday and right before we started playing Part 89 came loose and wouldn't let my lm4 cycle.  Luckily I got it out with a multi-tool and it ran fine all day.

Yea, that sounds like an over loading issue. Is the mag "clicking" in?

How many mags do you have? Is it doing this with all of your mags? This is the first time we've heard of this happening.
